Collectibles: Ambers, Flask & Materials

Every Valor Mortis collectible reported so far, in one place: the 29 unique Ambers, the Ferrofluid Flask upgrades, and the nine max-level Upgrade Materials that cap your weapons and Transmutations. None of it has been verified in game by this site yet — read the honesty note below before you treat a number as exact.

Reported, not verified

Every location here is reported by an independent guide publisher and labelled Reported. None has been confirmed from primary play by this site. Where two guides disagree on a count (e.g. 25 vs 26 Ferrofluid Power Upgrades; the earlier /progression/ note of 'one Masterwork, two Quintessential' vs the 3+3+3 breakdown below), treat the number as approximate until cross-checked in game.

Ambers — 29 unique types (56 pickup spots)

William starts with one Amber slot and can unlock up to five. Ambers are the least generous system in Valor Mortis — hands-on coverage found only a handful worth equipping at pickup — but the Ambersmith trophy requires every one, so the full set matters for completionists.

PowerPyx logs 9 additional Ferrofluid Quantity Upgrades (these raise flask capacity rather than heal-per-use); their exact spots sit in the dedicated Ferrofluid Quantity guide. Guide counts vary slightly — Eurogamer lists 26 Power Upgrades here, while PowerPyx logs 25 Power + 9 Quantity.

Max-Level Upgrade Materials (9)

Nine max-level Upgrade Materials, in three groups of three. Per PowerPyx these are enough to take every melee weapon and firearm to rank 10 and every Transmutation to rank 5. Note this corrects the older /progression/ planning note, which summarised the cap as 'one Masterwork, two Quintessential' — the detailed material guide lists three of each.

Melee — Quintessential Blade Material (3)

  • #1The Outskirts > Lighthouse: side lab beside the Experiment 83 area, in the chest holding two notes.
  • #2Fortress > Chapel: underground sewage room, left door to a secret room; bottom of stairs, right turn, locked room behind an explosive crate.
  • #3After the Oathbound side quest, Fortress > Courtyard: chest to the right of the table.

Firearms — Masterwork Firearm Parts (3)

  • #1City of Orphans > Sewers: Sewer Key into the new area, left path grapple to a platform, left corpse for a key, opens the door by the lantern.
  • #2University > Main Hall: chandelier jump to the Shield Transmutation, opposite the poison corridor; down the elevator to the lower library, then the lecture-hall balcony.
  • #3Reward for the side quest The King of the Smugglers.

Transmutation — Quintessential Transmutation Material (3)

  • #1Reward for the Monster Hunt side quest.
  • #2University > Main Hall: back at the elevator area, the other poison-corridor elevator, up/down to a new area balcony.
  • #3Fortress > Traverse: light the two signal fires to open the door, then the left chest.

Monster Hunt Drawings (17)

The 17 children's drawings are the objective of the Monster Hunt side quest (Chapter 8). See the Monster Hunt entry on /quests/ for the full walkthrough; this page lists them as a collectible set only.
